If you have half a brain you would know that you should never use molten armor in arenas because the bonuses from the other 2 armors are better. One guide to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.ĭisclaimer: Work in Progress! Mage armor against casters, frost armor against melee.īenefits from using frost armor against melee:ġ) more armor to reduce damage done to youģ) slows them so you don't get hit as often and you can get away and stay away longer.īenefits from using mage armor against casters:ġ) increased resistances against casters not using spell pen gear.Ģ) reduces any magic effect used on you by 35%.īenefits from using molten armor against all:ġ) 3% crit increase (which won't help out that much)Ģ) 5% reduced chance to be crit on (not too bad but doesn't outweigh the other bonuses from other armors)ģ) negligible damage done to your attackers. You ask if you should use frost armor instead of molten armor when getting attacked by melee yet when several people tell you to use frost armor against melee you refuse their logic and say you're being trolled. it's the correct answer, stop trying to defend molten armor and play correctly.^This. You've been told half a dozen times to only use Mage or Frost dependant on what your enemy team makeup is. It makes you such a bitch to the other team and using it makes things so much easier.Īs I said, as a Mage you have to control, you can't control shit if you're stuck in CC. But against caster teams, and especially against Mages, just use Mage Armor. I would just say: go for Frost Armor against a team with no magic effects, like a bad R.Druid/Warrior. Especially with a Hunter that will have some problems against any competent melee. As the Mage in pretty much any team your role is to control rather than doing damage. Way to contradict your own statement.Īnd to be honest, playing with a Hunter you shouldn't go all offensive. You said that the damage on hit is nice, but then say that Frost Armor is weak because you shouldn't be getting hit. I would say that Molten Armor comes out almost useless in all situations. The Mage class is not the class who is supposed to sit in CC forever and wait for debuffs to wear off, that's Warriors. Mage Armor is a must against casters and is what makes you a nightmare to them. While i do agree 35% reduction on the duration on most CCs and debuffs is useful, is it worth it compared to 5% crit bonus and 5% less chance of being crit? knowing my resistances are most likely to be nullified? I'm teaming with a hunter so 45 resistance is really easy to come by. I do agree that frost armor is better than i thought and maybe the best choice in most situtation, i do not agree that molten armor is useless though.Ībout mage armor vs molten against casters i'm not sure though. On my first post i was asking if people were using frost armor, because i didn't understand how it's defensive bonus could surpass the offensive bonus of molten armor. Each armor had it's uses and downside, and each armor is useful in different situations. Yes, you should stop posting if you ask a question and then refuse to consider the advice.Woah, i never said you were all wrong, i'm just saying Molten Armor isn't useless like some claim. In arena with dispels you're going to be hit on a fair amount, so its best to have the chill effect on them as another thing to dispel and fingers to do some damage. When melee is hitting on you and you proc fingers of frost, there's usually 10k damage and another slow. If you are playing with someone with an aura, I don't think most people gear for 240 spell pen so you get some effect at least, the main use is the magic duration reduction. Mage armor reduces the duration of a lot of CCs, silences, dots.
